Cameron is already one month old! This has been such an exciting adjustment for everyone and the time has flown by! It still seems like it was just yesterday that I was still pregnant and waiting for his arrival. Our little guy has really grown so much and is doing really well. As I said before he is such a calm baby. Since he is just 4 weeks old we do not have a lot of activity going on, but we are seeing lots of little changes in Cameron:
- He is much more alert and aware of sounds and voices. He definitely responds to mommy's voice, and also Daddy and Emerson I believe.
- Somehow he still manages to sleep through the loud sounds of Emerson playing when he naps in the living room. :)
- It took what felt like forever, but his umbilical cord stump fell off not long before 3 weeks. Talk about a relief... that was a hassle to avoid getting it wet during a bath!
- We have introduced "tummy time". Cherie is helping with this more since I'm still not that limber getting off the floor, but I do it on the weekend. He isn't sure that he likes it at first, but then he calms down. He is already so strong and can lift his head up for a long time!
- He is a really great sleeper so far! I have been trying to keep him on a schedule (yes, already!) so for now he gets a bottle between 9-9:30 and we try to lay him down by 10-10:30. He has been sleeping until 3 and sometimes longer (to 3:45 for a few days!) and then we lay him down and he sleeps until 7:45- 8:30 or so, when he gets another bottle. During the day he eats around 11, then again around 2, then around 6, and then has his last bottle for the day. He naps really well during the day as well, though I am not counting how long. I may adjust his last bottle since we are finding that he gets a little cranky and seems to want to eat around 8 or 8:30 and then we calm him down only to have a difficult time waking him up to eat. :)
- Cameron has 6 bottles a day now, with 5 ounces in each. For a while we were feeding him 7 times a day with around 3.5 ounces per bottle. For now this amount seems to satisfy him so we will see how long that is the case. He is a good sized baby so it won't be long before we have another increase I am sure.
- He has now too big for "newborn" clothes and fits well in 3 month clothes, depending on the brand. Carters run small so he actually fits into some of their 6 month onesies.
- We are now out of the newborn diapers and just in time because they were getting tight! So now we are on to size 1.
- We are using the full arsenal of baby gear to give Cameron some variety. He naps in the pack 'n play, but also spends time in the swing (which he really seems to favor), the Mamaroo swing, and the bouncer. We also spend time cuddling as well, though those of you who know me well know I am not one to hold a baby ALL THE TIME. :)
- Pretty much every night we go on a walk around the neighborhood as a family. Cameron enjoys the stroller and Emerson always has fun in her wagon. At first Cameron's eyes were always tightly shut, but he now looks around when we walk, though I know he can't see too far beyond seeing me pushing the stroller.
- Bath time is enjoyable! Frank and I were pleasantly surprised to find that Cameron loves his bath. He just seems so relaxed and content, much different than Emerson who screamed for the first several weeks when she had a bath. He is not a big fan of having his scalp rubbed with shampoo, but I know he will enjoy that too soon.
- Cameron makes some sweet coo-ing sounds sometimes. It seems like I hear it many times right as he tinkles... it is sort of an "Ahhh" sound (I think this is a guy thing, am I right?)... then shortly after he cries because he does not like to have a wet diaper. He also makes that sweet sound when I am rocking with him and holding him sometimes. Oh, and when he has his bottle he makes a sweet humming kind of sound... you can tell he is happy to be getting to eat. :)
- I have not seen a "real" smile yet (it is too early still), but he has smiled many times in his sleep while I am holding him or watching him. It is incredibly sweet and I can't wait for him to do it on purpose in response to us talking and interacting with him. This will probably happen in the next couple of weeks so we will see!

Cameron was also able to meet his Uncle Glenn and "Aunt" Sarah when they came to visit from Myrtle Beach this month. He really loved laying in Glenn's arms and on his lap. He also got to spend some more time with both of our families. Our kiddos are very loved... we are so fortunate. It has been a fun, wonderful, exciting, and tiring month. We thank our families for helping us get through the first weeks, especially since I was not as mobile after the c-section. It has been extremely helpful having Cherie here. Emerson is able to go along with her routine and she also helps me with Cameron so I can run errands and do other things I need to get done.
That really pretty much covers the excitement this month! I am excited to see the changes next month brings!
His hat has already gotten too small, but this was taken early this month.
Cameron getting the PKU test. He slept right through it!
Bright-eyed beautiful boy!
Uncle Glenn and Aunt Sarah!
I am rarely in pictures these days, but here I am with little man.
Such a peaceful sleeper.
Emerson is a sweet big sister!
Yawn!!!
