When Cameron was 6 weeks old we took pictures with the Our 365 people and also took Emerson's 2 year pictures. He did great with all the poses and Emerson also did great with her smiling for the camera. I will share my favorite pictures from that.
We have also decided to find a new nanny for the kiddos, and we are fortunate that we found Kristen. Emerson has really warmed up to her and is having a great time with Kristen's daughter, Emily. I think Emerson might be more sad when it is time for Emily to go back to school in the fall than she is when I return to work in a couple of weeks!
Cameron's doctor appointment was harder this month because the poor guy got 2 shots and had an oral vaccine. Thinking back to Emerson's vaccines I feel like the 2nd month was the worst and I hope that is right. He won't have to go through that again until 4 months so that is good! The doctor looked at Cameron's head and he agreed that the shape was a little concerning and has recommended we go to the STAR Cranial Center to see what they think. So I scheduled an appointment for July 23rd... There isn't anything we could have done to prevent his head's shape, which is good and bad. I am glad it wasn't due to something we did, but it's frustrating at the same time. Between now and then we are going to try to have more time on his belly and hold him upright just in case that helps. It may be that they think his head will continue to form properly without the helmet, but we will have to wait and see. I guess if the poor guy has to have one we will pick a darn good looking one. :) The doctor also said that he has a hemangioma on his back. There was this spot that looked like maybe it got pinched in a seat clasp or something and I couldn't figure out when. But the doctor said it is a harmless spot of blood vessels that will likely grow quite a bit until his first birthday. After that it will shrink and disappear and you won't know it was ever there. We are fortunate that it is on his back shoulder because some kiddos have them in really bad places that cause them irritation and pain. It's probably not going to look very nice if it gets huge, but that is not the end of the world. So his appointment went well with regard to developmental concerns and his his health, but a little bit of a downer with the possibility of the helmet.
We have lots of fun stuff coming up including a trip to Austin this weekend and then we have Emerson's 2nd birthday and party! Wow, 2 years already!
But back to little man. Here are his 2 month stats!
Weight: 13 lbs. 4 oz. (75%)
Height: 24 inches (50%)
Head Circumference: 40 cm (50%)
He has been doing lots of developing and growing this month so here is an overview:
- He is eating 5 times a day drinking just over 6 ounces each time (yes, I know that is a lot!) He has the bottles between 3-4 hours during the day, but has one longer stretch because of his long nap, which I cover next.
- We are working on a nap routine, but are not there yet. Right now he takes "cat naps" during the day, but he is taking a consistent longer nap in the middle of the day that is lasting around 3 hours! It seems to possibly be impacting his sleeping as long at night, but that is hard to tell.
- He sleeps through the night still. He is normally in bed around 10pm or earlier sometimes and is sleeping until around 6:45- 7:15am. I know, we are lucky!
- We swaddle him with his arms out for nighttime, but during the day he seems to like a loose swaddle with his arms in. Maybe we will swaddle him with his arms in for nighttime to see how that works... I am not sure.
- We have done a lot more tummy time this month. Earlier in the month Cameron actually pushed himself up enough to roll over while Cherie was doing some tummy time. That was June 12th.
- The same day we thought we also had his first real smile. Since then he has been doing that more and more. He has such a beautiful little smile. :)
- He has been cooing more and more too, which is fun. He was being talkative the other night so I got a video and put it on YouTube if you would like to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZALLHMzcL7w&feature=youtube_gdata_player
- He is in size 1 diapers, but we may move him up to size 2 soon since we have a bunch of those already and are almost out of size 1.
- He is still wearing 3 month clothes and some 6 month clothes.
- His upper body strength continues to grow as well... he sort of does this bobble head thing still and if you are not careful he'll really wham you by accident when you hold him up by your shoulder. :)
- While visiting my parents last week he got in a kiddie pool for the first time (pic below). He was pretty chill about the whole thing.
- He is now enjoying time in his bouncer, which is really convenient because it is easier to transport around. He spends some time in the swing still as well, but not as much since all he wants to do when he swings is sleep! He doesn't like the other swing we have yet, but I am hoping he will like it once he is more entertained by watching what all we are doing around him.
- I also think his hair color is getting lighter... I really think I see blond hair coming in, :) He also looks more like Frank to me, and other people have commented the same. No wonder I think he is so darn cute. :)
Here are a bunch of pictures... I know there are a lot!!
